Past Simple of regular verbs     Pasado simple de verbos regulares  
           
  You use the past simple when you  want to talk about something at a definite time in the past (for example yesterday, last night, in 1993 etc)     Usted utiliza el pasado simple cuando quiere hablar de algo en un momento definido en el pasado ( por ejemplo ayer, anoche, en 1993 etc)  
           
  Most verbs are regular and show this regularity by having -ed on the end.     La mayoría de los verbos en pasado son regulares y manifiestan esta regularidad porque poseen ed en la terminación.  
           
A)  Positive form:            A) Forma positiva:  
           
  I lived in Greece when I was a child...But now I live in Italy     Viví en Grecia cuando era niño...Pero ahora vivo en Italia.  
                                                                   
                         
  He answered the question first.     Contestó la pregunta primero.  
         
  She relaxed yesterday.     Descanzó ayer.

 

 

  
           
  It played the violin last night.....                                                              Tocó el violín anoche.

 

 

 

  
           
  We celebrated mom`s birthday last Saturday     Celebramos el cumpleaños de mami el sábado pasado.

 

 

 

  
           
  They played beach volley last week end.     Jugaron voley playero el fin de semana pasado.  
         
  Note: All persons in the past have the same form:     Nota:  Todas las personas gramaticales poseen la misma forma en pasado.  
           
      I   you  he  she   it   we   they     played     Yo tu él ella  nos ellos     jugué jugaste jugó jugamos etc  
                                                                visited   etc                                           visité  visitaste     etc                         
        Es diferente en castellano ¿verdad?  
           
B) Negative form:   B) Forma negativa:  
           
  You have to use didn´t  +  the infinitive of the verb (without to) for all persons.      Debes usar didn´t  + el infinitivo del verbo sin to para todas las personas gramaticales.  
           Examples:             Ejemplos:  
           
  I didn`t visit Paris  when I was in France last year...A pity!   No visité París cuando estuve en Francia el año pasado...¡Una lástima!  
  You didn`t study maths last week. So you failed your exam   No estudiaste matemática la semana pasada. Por eso rendiste mal tu examen  
  He didn´t relax last Monday. He worked a lot. Now he is tired indeed.   No descanzó el lunes pasado. Trabajó mucho. Ahora está realmente cansado.  
           
  She didn`t prepare salad. She prepared pasta.   No preparó ensalada. Preparó pasta.  
           
  It didn´t play the piano last night....It played the banjo!   No tocó el piano anoche....¡Tocó el banjo!  
           
  We didn`t start the meeting at twelve. It started at two p.m  
No comenzamos la reunión a las doce. Comenzó a las 2 p.m.		  
           
  They didn`t like the colour of our house.   No les gustó el color de nuestra casa.
