Enough and too     Suficiente y bastante

 

 

   It is sometimes difficult to decide on the position of the word enough in the sentence. Here goes the  best explanation we can offer to you.      A veces es difícil decidir sobre la posición de la palabra enough dentro de la oración. Aquí va la mejor explicación que te podemos ofrecer.

 

 

   Enough goes after adjectives and adverbs...like this:  Enough  va después de adjetivos y adverbios...de este modo:

 

 

adjective + enough adjetivo + suficiente
   
No,  I can't wear this. It's not big enough for me. No puedo utilizar esto. No es lo suficientemente grande para mi.
I don't want to get married yet. I am not old enough. No me quiero casar todavía. No tengo la edad suficiente.
He is not imaginative enought I am afraid. No es lo suficientemente imaginativo me temo.

 

 

adverb + enough adverbio + suficiente
   
I am not working hard enough to pay the rent this year. No estoy trabajando lo suficientemente duro como para pagar el alquiler.
I didn't feel well enough to go to work yesterday. No me sentí lo suficientemente bien para ir a trabajar ayer.
We didn't drive quickly enough to get there by four. No condujimos lo suficientemente rápido para llegar allí a las cuatro.
   

 

 

 

On the other hand, enough goes before nouns: Por otra parte, enough precede a los sustantivos:

We don't have enough money this month. No tenemos suficiente dinero este mes.
There aren't enough chairs in the house for the meeting. No hay suficientes sillas en la casa para la reunión.
You can't get that job. You haven't enough experience. No puedes conseguir ese trabajo. No tienes experiencia suficiente .

 

 

 After enough you can say for somebody /something... Luego de enough puedes decir para alguien o para algo...

 

We don't have enough money for a big meal. No tenemos suficiente dinero para una comida grande.
A thousand dollars is enough money for a party....  Mil dólares es dinero suficiente para una fiesta.
A sandwich is enough for me now. Un sándwich es suficiente para mi ahora.
There isn't enough room for all here.... No hay suficiente lugar para todos aquí....

 

 

You can use the infinitive with to after enough: Puedes utilizar la forma infinitiva con to luego de enough:

 

 

There aren't enough chairs for us to sit down... No hay suficientes sillas para que nosotros nos sentemos.
I am not old enough to drive a car. Soy un poco chico para conducir un auto.
I'm sorry! I am not strong enough to help you. ¡Lo siento! No soy lo suficientemente fuerte para ayudarte.

 

 

The word too can be used in many different ways. Read the examples below and you will get familiar with it's use. La palabra too se puede utilizar de muchas formas. Lee los ejemplos de más abajo y te familiarizarás con su uso.

This shirt is too big. I need something smaller. Esta camisa es muy grande. Necesito algo más pequeño.
That car is too expensive. Ese auto es muy caro.
   
This shirt is too big for me. I need something smaller. Esta camisa es muy grande para mi. Necesito algo más pequeño.
That car  is too expensive for us. Ese auto es muy caro para nosotros.
   
This shirt is too big for me to wear. Esta camisa es muy grande para mi para usarla.
That car  is too expensive for us to buy. Ese auto es muy caro para que nosotros lo compremos.
